Thoughts
on Science
The Big Bang theory states that
the universe was formed from pure energy. Experimental physics has shown that a
symmetry in the laws of nature causes energy to form matter and antimatter in
equal proportions. For the universe to exist, for about every billion pair
of quarks and anti-quarks in the big bang, there was 1 extra quark, and
that allowed matter to be created. Some might call that a miracle :-)
(in
case you are wondering about quarks, :-) .. Atoms are composed of
particles called protons, electrons and neutrons.
Protons and neutrons are both composed of other particles called quarks and
gluons.)
If the rate of expansion 1
second after the big bang had been smaller by even one part in 100 thousand
million million, the universe would have re-collapsed.
The e=mc2 formula shows that
mass can be converted into energy, and energy can be converted into mass
Number of the stars in the
universe, (300 sextillion) 3 trillion times 100 billion
The observable universe is
calculated to be 14.3 billion parsecs (about 46.6 billion light years)
Astronomers think that there
are hundreds of billions galaxies in the universe (there are about 10,000
galaxies visible.)
There are between 200-400 billion stars in the Milky Way.
Are we going through life in a
state of wonder, being continuously grateful and appreciative? Are we
giving thanks every day for the multitude or miracles we constantly see
appearing before our eyes?
True peace consists in not
separating ourselves from the will of God.

You don't attract into your life
what you want, you attract into your life what you are. In order to achieve
more, you must first become more.
Our life is what our thoughts
have made it. If you change your thoughts, you change your life. So focus on
the limitless universe and your willingness to give blessings and helping
others. Be on the side of the Angels.
Stay aware of your thoughts. Are
you thinking of the future, the past, or the present. You can only change the
present, so stay in the NOW.

The Watch
A man (let us say me) is walking down a trail where no man had previously been.
He looks down and sees a Rolex watch lying on the ground next to an acorn, so
he picks up the watch, and thinks; “surely there must have been
a watchmaker, as this has hundreds of moving parts, so could not have been
created by accident”. But the hand that picked up the watch is so
very much more complex. The human genome contains more than 3.4 billion base
pairs. The atoms in the hand are intern made of quarks, and all the
matter in his hand is really just energy according to this guy called
Einstein. J
And the odds of the universe exploding from pure energy in the
exact timing with exact proportions of matter and antimatter to
expand in a big bang so we even exist in the 46 billion light-year
size “known” universe, in one of the hundreds of billions galaxies,
each having hundreds of billions of stars, that happens to house
a star we call the Sun, and that star having a
planet with just the right distance from that it supports life,
so we could pick up the watch, are so infinitesimal, that most
cannot comprehend odds like that. I know I can’t. J So I bend back down, put
down the watch, pick up the acorn and plant it in the soft dirt,
where that 1 small acorn can grow into an infinite number of forests.
(Ok, I really take the watch to a pawn shop, but you get my
point) J
So that is
just 1 reason why I believe in God.
